Sexually transmitted diseases

Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are a group of infection similar to one another only and can be acquired through sexual contact only. It’s also referred as sexually transmitted infections (STI) that have a significant probability of transmission between human through sexual behavior, including anal sex, vaginal intercourse and oral sex. Some of the commonly named diseases caused through STDs are HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B and Gonorrhea etc.

 

What are the causes of STD?

STDs are usually caused by the viruses and bacteria and your chance of getting it is highest if:

  • A condom tears during an intercourse.
  • Your sexual partner has STI
  • You have any unprotected sex.

In some cases HIV or Hepatitis B can be transmitted to your body through syringes, infected blood, body piercing etc.

 

Symptoms of having Sexually transmitted diseases

This diseases doesn’t have any particular symptoms, some people might have STD without any known symptoms. But still the number of symptoms can indicate the existence of an STI, although specific symptoms are different for different infections.

  • Pain during intercourse
  • Itching in genital or anal areas
  • Painful or more frequently urinations
  • Heavier than normal vaginal discharge

 

Some of the diseases caused by Sexually transmitted diseases

It’s not necessary to have sex to get sexually transmitted infections, but sexual activity is the most common way for them to spread. The different infection caused through different organisms and had a wide variety of symptoms.

Hera are some of the common STDs caused diseases:-

  • Gonorrhea. It is an infection caused by the bacteria Neisseria gonorrhea. It is the most common STI, and almost teens and young adults represent the same problem.
  • Human papillomavirus(HPV). It is caused by genital warts. It is also very common STIs diseases in Canada and especially among teens and young adults.
  • Hepatitis B. It is caused by a virus that infects the liver. Unfortunately there are no treatment or cure for these diseases but a vaccine is available to protect you against the virus.
